GMapsPRO 1.0 RC1 Now Available!

Today we've made available to subscribers the 1.0 RC1 build for GMapsPRO.  It is released as a bundle so you have all the components at the current rev levels that were used in testing.  These are the same components used to run the demo site.  This build contains the primary feature set I was hoping to include in the 1.0 build.  The biggest feature of course is the ability for users to submit markers on a map via the Joomla front-end.

If you haven't seen the front-end submission in action, I highly recomment you visit the demo site, register and view the User Submitted markers map.  Submit a marker and I will approve it as time permits.

This bundle was tested primarily on 1.0.x.  However, some testing was done on 1.5 RC3 but I there is more to do.

Before installing the components, you will need to backup your GMaps CSS file, icons folder, any adapters that have been modified/developed and deployed in the classes folder.  We also recommend documenting your CB Plugin configurations.  (Yeah I know, I need to fix this - sorry!)

Front-end Marker submission is on our demo site

For PRO, one of the more common requests I've received is the ability to submit markers via the Joomla front-end.   Well, the build that provides this functionality is still being tested and is currently available on the demo site (goto http://gmaps.firestorm-technologies.com/prodemo/ ).    Go check it out.  In order to submit a marker, you must register on the site and then view the "User submitted Markers" map.  This is the only map that has been enabled for front-end marker submission by registered users.   You will see a new icon on the map toolbar after you have logged in.  Click on that icon and you will be taken to the data entry form.

All submissions must be approved so it won't appear immediately.  I do try and check it once a day depending on time and approve most submissions.

Bug Tracker now available

I installed an instance of flyspray in an effort to hopefully provide better support.  Many requests come to us in email and may get lost in the shuffle.  For that, I apologize.  I hope this helps in reporting what truly are bugs.  You can also place feature requests here as well.  Now, please be patient as I am new to this software and may not have it entirely configured as well as the corresponding Joomla extension.  It should be available for all registered users.

If you have general questions on some problems you have, please post to the forums first before submitting a bug.

Community Builder Adapter in action !!!

I thought I'd take this opportunity to showcase a site that implemented the CB Adapter with very limited assistance.  Tyler from http://www.massageinmytown.net/ has successfully taken the default adapter from PRO and tweaked it to work in his environment.   So now whenever a therapist profile is added to his site, a marker will automatically be added to the front page.   Tyler has been kind enough to post the adapter in the forum for others to use as an example.  Check out his site when you have a chance!!   -- Chris

New Demo Site for PRO

Well .. I finally took the time to build a demo site for GMapsPRO.  This demo site is currently based on the bundled release we released earlier this week.  It includes PRO, the GMaps plugin, the Community Builder plugin, the Community Builder adapter and even the GPX Adapter we developed for a client.

Click here to take a look.

There currently is no back-end access to this demo site.  We hope to make that available in the near future.  Also, feel free to register to see your information geocoded and your marker be added to the CB map.  Please be aware that the CB plugin is configured for a US address.  City/State are the only two required fields but the address, zipcode are also used in the geocoding process.

One map IS NOW available on the demo site for FRONT-END Submissions!!!

New GMaps Release - 1.2.4
We've made some minor changes to the base GMaps release and it is now available for download.  This build should resolve the issue that several had reported with JCalPRO.  Also, this build should also be compatible with Joomla 1.5 in legacy mode.

New Beta release of PRO
A new beta release of GMapsPRO was released earlier this week as a bundle with the CB Plugin and the GMaps plugin mambot for all subscribers.  This release takes care of several bugs identified by some of our testers and contains the new adapter framework that can be used to pull data from external data sources.   This release also should support Joomla 1.5 in legacy mode only.
