What exactly is your issue? Feel free to email me. At a high level (and I believe the docs follow this order), the process is:
1) Setup the configuration .. starting with the API key
2) Create/Define the map and its associated parameters
3) Create/Define markers
4) Assign markers to specific maps
5) Then you'd need to create a menu link to the component and then you should see the list of maps.
That is pretty much it, at least to me. Again, feel free to email me and I'll see what I can do to help guide you to get it running.
