Map not showung - 2007/02/23 23:07
I've installed and configured gMaps with seemingly no problem mut I can't get the map to show.

My environment:

Server: Windows 2003
Joomla: 1.0.12

Site: http://www.electricfoster.info

I imstalled the component and plug-in (mambot) in typical fashion.

I went to GoogleMaps and received the key for my domain and iserted the key on both the component and plug-in.

I set the dimensions of the map to 100%

I created a map and then created a marker for the map.

When I display the map, I do not get an error. I Get the link to display the map and when I click on it I get the slider controls but the map isn't there. The footer of my site fills the area where the map should be.

Any ideas? I'll keep looking, too

OK, changed the size on the map configuration (not the component config) to 400px X 400px and am seeing the map not. Noth the behavior I was wanting, but will keep looking.

Terry,
One of the most common occurances I've seen is that a unit measurement is not provided when entering the height/width of the map. I am going to tighten down the input with my 1.0 release. Also, if you have placed a link in the description of the marker, make sure you use single quotes.

If you want, please email the data to info@firestorm-technologies.com and I'll try and debug on my end.

Go Cardinals!!!

Chris.

Thanks for replying!

I've been playing around with the unit type. I've tried the percent symbol "%", of course. I've tried "pct" as well. No luck. If I leave it as "px" it works, but doesn't scale well.

Go Cardinals?

If that's the Stanford Cardinals, I wish you well.
If that's the Arizona Cardinals, well that's just sad.
If you are referring to the despicable red-hatted crew from Saint Louis . . . well 1985 to you!

Go Royals! (Now who's sad?)

I tried to send the data files to info@firestorm-technologies.com but it bounced back to me.

Ouch! Been to Kauffman stadium last year for the first time to see the Royals play the Mariners. Not much to speak of in the way of excitement.

Hmmm ... not sure what is going on. Please send me the details of the map and I'll try to recreate the problem.

Try sending the files again if you would like. There were server issues.

I was having the same trouble until I converted the map coordinates to: Universal Transverse Mecator from degrees, minutes and seconds

Kurt,

Thanks for the tip. I have the latitude/longitude as well as UTM X&Y for the plot point I need, but when I plot the UTM I get ployyed "off the planet". Is there a particular syntax I need to use to pass UTM?

Here is one set of coordinates I'm plotting:

Latitude 38.3166
38? 18' 59.8" N
381860N
Longitude -93.4145
93? 24' 52.4" W
0932452W
UTM X = 463761.015
Y = 4241024.624
Zone 15
