The map is basically a living document. We will be adding historical and pre-historical locations consistently, then continue to add "history" points relevant to contemporary times.
The map is part of a grassroots effort to tell the American Indian history of the State of Tennessee from the eyes of American Indians. Existing online and printed histories tend to be very biased toward colonizers and overlook several tribes that were here prior to and during the occupation of the Five Civilized Tribes. The map will be integral in showing a larger American Indian occupation than one interprets from non-Indian accounts.
