RELEASE 1.0 INFORMATION - 2007/02/25 04:35
All, Thanks to all who have tested the initial beta releases of GMaps and provided some EXCELLENT feedback. Here is a list of fixes/enhancements that are in scope for Release 1.0 (or at least planned if time permits):
- Removal of buttons on the backend control panel which have no function (done) - Adding link on the "Google API Key" to open a window to where you can obtain the key (done) - Add an APPLY button on the "Edit Map" page to prevent from having to save, edit and then add markers (done) - Removal of second mambot/plugin "published" parameter (done) - Add default map center location (latitude/longitude) - Add map property to turn off display of the map type - Fixing the issue with a missing table tag on the add map page (if I can find it) - Add DIV tags on the viewmap template to enable easier styling when the map renders via the frontend (done) - Maybe a few simple "quick kills"
I am planning on releasing this version on or around March 15.
Below are the out of scope items for 1.0. I will look into including these at some point in the near future.
Chris
OUT OF SCOPE ITEMS: - GMaps sidebar module - Function to show/hide "overlays" on a map - Bulk upload of marker data (since I don't have a need and that looks like a lot of work, I'm passing on that for now) - Geocoding - Front-end administration. FYI this is still a high priority for me on some of my personal projects - Yahoo Mapping - Data Access plugin - enable configuration of GMaps to point to external data sources (Another high priority item for me)
