Looking for a specific feature ... let me know!

I'm in the process of laying out the roadmap for GMapsPRO 2.0. If there are features you'd like to see, please email me and let me know . I am open to any possible suggestions people may have; however, that does not guarantee it will be included. I hope to have a defined roadmap for 2.0 by the end of September. Your input would be very valuable to me as my use of the extension is pretty basic. Thanks in advance.

GMaps Update

Well .. it took me too long but I did release the final 1.0 build for GMapsPRO. Sorry it took so long. The build only resolves some of the minor issues that have been reported. Most notably, the selection of markers from multiple cateogries. If you have any issues with the build, please let me know.FUTURE OF GMAPS ....As of right now, my feeling is to cap the current development of the GMapsPRO version based on the Joomla 1.0.x API. I will continue to make modifications to resolve issues that may arise. Future enhancements will be defered into the 2.0 build which will be native 1.5 compatible. I will be starting development of that version in the August timeframe. I have completed an integration project and revisited the Google Maps API. There are many new features (ie. street overlay) that I want to add to the extension. I will also be revisiting some of the design to make it more flexible. If there are any specific features you would like to see, please email me with the details and I will consider it.ON VACATION ....Just FYI for subscribers. I will be on vacation over the next two weeks so my availability will be minimal. I will be traveling to San Francisco, CA (and Monterey) to hopefully do some hiking. We'll see though ... I'm not sure how much damage was done to the parks from the recent fires. Shoot me an email if something comes up and you need some help.

Subscribers ... New Users Manual Available!

Subscribers... I have completed another draft of the users manua for GMapsPRO. This manual covers GMapsPRO, Community Builder and the GMaps Plugin extensions. Here you will be able to find informatoin on the various parameters for the plugin, how to configure the GMaps/CB plugin and more detail about the concenpt of the marker offset to ensure CB users do not map to the same location. In additon, with the 1.0 Beta (which really is stable) build of PRO, you are now capable of creating view templates for individual maps. This doc includes the latest information on the tags you have avaialble when developing your template.NOTE: As time is very scarce for me at this time, I plan on releasing the stable build in the next few weeks. It will not be much different than the build out there today. Minor changes are the only thing being included.

'Self' Marker Icon - CB Plugin

One of the most requested features of the CB Map User plugin is the ability to define a different icon for the user being viewed so that it is easier to differentiate it from the rest of the nearby users. This feature will come out with the next build of GMapsPRO. It is available today on our demo site. Check it out. The Member List should be open to view without registration or login. This build enables configuration of the CB plugin directly from the GMapsPRO configuration panels. We'll place the beta build on the site for subscriber download within the next day or two. I need to test a few more things before removing the beta tag from the build.

Upcoming PRO build

In the next couple of weeks, the final 1.0 build will be released. There will not be any major changes from the RC2 build as it is focused on solving some of the minor bugs that have been reported. A few of the key items that will be included are:Ability to define specific templates for a map. This will allow you to create different views of a map defined within GMaps.. Currentl, the only option is the viewmap.html template.Select list indexAbility to set the self marker on the Community Builder PluginI am going to try and integrate the CB plugin configurations into the core GMapsPRO component but I am not sure time will permit. The release will be available (hopefully) within 2 weeks.
