INTERNET EXPLORER 6.x USERS USING THE COLORMATIC THEME ONLY:
It was reported by a user of GMaps that they were having issues with their site and were having stack overflow errors when trying to zoom in/out on a map. In addition, the map images were not rendering at all even though the markers were. After looking into this, we have identified a work around to have the maps rendered properly. You need to remove the following block of code from the index.php file:
<!--[if lte IE 6]>
We've tested this on a few sites and that seems to do the trick. We are not sure exactly what the issues is but believe that this code has something to do with the PNG transparency issue that theme is trying to resolve on earlier versions of IE and conflicts with the images being returned via the Google Maps API. However, we are not sure.
UPDATE: The user reporting this issue informed me that this block of code has something to do with the header tab. Removing the block of code doesn't appear to hurt anything under IE6 but the tab in the header is not as clean in IE6. Everything still looks fine under FF.
NOTE: We do not typically take the time to investigate issues GMaps has with specific templates. There are just too many themes to guarantee 100% success. However, this is a theme that we will use in the future so it was worth it. Plus, the user reporting the problem made a donation for my time to look into this more than I normally would. |
